yes, this is allowed however you would be taking a big risk crossing over (things have changed alot over the last few years with this country and it's really not safe anymore)

Yes, it is still allowed and still very safe. All this may change in the near future but it is safe for now.

Of course.. American visitors, that is. If they are foreign visitors, they must have their passports and assuming that the country that they have a passport for does not require a visa.

Yes it is still fine, but they just are a little more vigilant when you are crossing the border.
